The Christening

She shall be named after an ancient princess.

Her eyes contained the hope of her ancestors, her arms held the weight of their history with grace and unyielding strength. Wide and kind.

It was deep in the forest where she heard her name for the first time in a different rhythm and cadence. She discovered another.

Among the trees and dirt, the leaves that peaked with golden sun rays, where she was as natural as the creek.

Her silence complimented the rustling of leaves and tall grass.

Neither ignored nor distinguished from the rest of the forest, but perfect, luminous. Queen of the sun, she took the moon as her lover.

She shall be her namesake.
