Any one of these steps may last as long or a little as the subject likes. It’s important to remember that you are the owner of your feelings and not the other way around.
1. Shock followed by denial.

1.1. Reckless decision making
Perhaps a one night stand or even jumping into a new relationship, new hair color, cut and fugly boots to top.
2. It sinks in… and it stinks.
You might find yourself dreaming about that person every night. Shame on you if you wonder if the other person is going through the same. If you have to ask, the answer is probably definitely no. Unless… of course, that is the trap. Best surround yourself with ice cream and lovely friends.
3. Getting better, getting over it.
… and one day you wake-up and things are just back to normal.
