Green Eggs and Ham
By Dr. Seuss
It’s a story about a hermetic person opening up to real love. At the beginning he doesn’t want to, we don’t really know why, we can only assume he had once put himself out there and then was too hurt to ever consider doing it again. The fact that he eventually gives in just reinforces the fact that he really did want to fall in love again.
So, at the end he declares his everlasting love:
I like green eggs and ham!
I do! I like them, Sam-I-am!
And I would eat them in a boat.
And I would eat them with a goat…
And I will eat them in the rain.
And in the dark. And on a train.
And in a car. And in a tree.
They are so good, so good, you see!
So I will eat them in a box.
And I will eat them with a fox.
And I will eat them in a house.
And I will eat them with a mouse.
And I will eat them here and there.
Say! I will eat them ANYWHERE!
I do so like
green eggs and ham!
He also decides to open himself to Sam-I-am! The are currently married, eating green eggs and ham every morning, noon and night and have adopted two Cambodian children. The are happy and living in San Francisco. They are currently lobbying to have green eggs and ham become the new official San Francisco treat.
Long live the weirdo and Sam-I-am!
